Job summary

A local consulting firm in Centurion seeks an Assistant Accountant to manage financial records and assist with reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of accounting experience, proficiency in Sage accounting software, and strong analytical skills. Compensation is negotiable, up to R20,000 per month.

Overview

Assistant Accountant

Highveld Techno Park, Centurion, Gauteng

Salary: Negotiable, up to R20,000 p / m

The successful candidate will be responsible for capturing transactions, performing reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records, while assisting with various ad-hoc finance tasks as required.

Responsibilities
  • Process general ledger entries, bank transactions, and reconciliations
  • Capture supplier and sales invoices, maintain customer and supplier accounts
  • Post monthly journals (salaries, depreciation, reallocations)
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations (advantageous)
  • Prepare management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Liaise with clients to confirm and gather documentation
  • Compile basic annual financial statements for SMEs (advantageous)
Statutory Compliance
  • Perform VAT reconciliations and VAT201 submissions
  • Assist with VAT audits (advantageous)
  • Submit EMP201 returns via SARS eFiling
  • Handle basic SARS correspondence
  • Assist with Provisional Tax and Income Tax Returns (advantageous)
  • Register companies at the Department of Labour for UIF and WCA (advantageous)
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (National Senior Certificate)
  • Accounting Diploma / BCom Accounting Degree (advantageous)
  • SAIPA Articles (advantageous)
  • 3+ years bookkeeping / accounting experience
  • Strong numeracy, analytical ability, and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel intermediate level)
  • Experience with Sage accounting software (essential), CaseWare (advantageous)
