Job description

PKF Pretoria is looking for an Accountant / Independent Reviewer

Suitable Qualifications For The Position

  • Recognized B.Comm Accounting / Financial qualification.
  • Membership of Professional Body (e.g., SAIPA / SAICA).
  • AGA (SA)
  • 1 - 2 years post-article experience in an accounting/auditing environment.

Responsibilities as Part of the Independent Review Team

  • Staff development and training of assurance staff and non-assurance staff, including:
  • Planning and scheduling of engagements,
  • WIP management,
  • Budgeting,
  • Client leasing,
  • Engagement finalization,
  • Conducting reviews within the scope and requirements of:
  • The relevant standard for review engagements,
  • Ethical and independence requirements,
  • Company Act requirements,
  • The PKF Quality Control Policy and Procedures,
  • Ensuring all matters are cleared prior to sign-off,
  • Rolling out key findings to other engagements, including staff training,
  • Addressing post-issuance findings and facilitating training on key matters,
  • Conducting technical research and advising staff on review engagement matters,
  • Fostering a positive and professional work environment within the company and audit teams conducive to learning and development,
  • Attending training and CPD courses to remain registered as a SAICA accountant.

Responsibilities as part of the financial statement preparation team include:

  • Preparation of annual financial statements compliant with IFRS or IFRS – SME frameworks,
  • Assisting clients with cosmetic finalization of annual financial statements where required,
  • Preparation of monthly accounting and reporting.

Responsibilities as part of the Tax Team include:

  • Calculation of Tax Packs (Income Tax and deferred tax calculations).
