Description du poste

At The Perse School (Singapore), we cultivate a happy and nurturing environment, inspiring students to develop a lifelong love of learning and prepare for a fulfilling and successful future. Guided by The Perse Way—our values‑driven educational philosophy developed over 400 years—we are committed to shaping exceptional learning experiences for the future.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioural Counsellor to join our team. This specialist role will focus on supporting students’ behavioural, emotional, and social development, working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure students thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

This role will commence in January 2026.

The Role

This exciting opportunity is ideal for a fully qualified behavioural specialist or counsellor with experience working in school settings. You will play a key role in building and enhancing behavioural support structures across the School, implementing evidence‑based strategies that empower students to develop self‑regulation, resilience, and positive social interactions.

Key Responsibilities
Behavioural Support & Intervention
  • Develop and implement individualised behaviour intervention plans using evidence‑based approaches.
  • Conduct observations and assessments of students’ behavioural needs, identifying triggers and patterns to support targeted intervention.
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group behavioural counselling sessions to support students’ social‑emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting strategies to ensure effective outcomes.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with teachers to promote positive classroom environments and provide guidance on behavioural strategies.
  • Engage collaboratively with parents to ensure consistent support across home and school environments.
  • Liaise with external professionals—including psychologists, therapists, and behavioural consultants—to coordinate holistic support for students.
Safeguarding & Crisis Response
  • Proactively identify safeguarding concerns and report them promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  • Provide crisis intervention during behavioural or emotional escalations.
Program Development
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of proactive behavioural and social‑emotional learning (SEL) programmes for the school community.
  • Support the ongoing review and improvement of student support systems at The Perse School (Singapore).
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of sessions, interventions, and progress, in line with EduTrust requirements.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Understanding

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Behavioural Science, Special Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred). Recognised qualification in counselling or behavioural intervention (e.g., CBT, ABA, social‑emotional counselling). Demonstrated experience in providing behavioural or counselling support in a school, clinical, or educational setting. Strong understanding of child development, behavioural frameworks, and evidence‑based intervention models. Comprehensive understanding of psychometric testing, with the ability to interpret and apply recommendations effectively to support students’ learning. Level 7 qualification in psychometric testing, assessment, and access arrangements (or equivalent) is desirable. Experience in International School is preferred.

Experience working with students experiencing:

  • Emotional and behavioural regulation challenges
  • Social communication difficulties
  • Social, emotional, and mental health concerns (SEMH)
Competencies
  • Empathetic and culturally sensitive, with strong cross‑cultural communication skills.
  • Effective listener able to build trust and rapport with students, families, and staff
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to analyse behavioural patterns with accuracy.
  • Resilient and adaptive, with a calm approach to managing challenging situations.
  • Collaborative team player committed to supporting the holistic development of students.
  • Lifelong learner, proactive in keeping up with current research and best practices in behavioural support and child psychology.
Safeguarding

The Perse School (Singapore) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All candidates will be subject to rigorous safeguarding checks, including reference checks, an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and verification of qualifications and employment history.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, all staff are required to uphold the school’s safeguarding policies, attend regular training, and promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Any gaps in employment must be explained, and candidates should be prepared to discuss their approach to safeguarding in education as part of the recruitment process.
