A primary educational institution in Singapore seeks an experienced special education professional to provide support for students with special educational needs (SEN). Responsibilities include in-class support, collaboration with teachers and parents, and maintaining accurate student records. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma in Special Education and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm (inclusive of 1-hour lunch break)
🚫 Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, gazetted school holidays, and public holidays
🧠 Provide withdrawal support, specialised remediation, and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
🏫 Provide in-class support for SEN students, including:
⏱ Reminding and prompting students to stay on-task
👂 Helping students pay attention and participate in lessons
🔁 Supporting students to follow classroom routines
🧘 Providing time‑out and calming strategies when students are stressed or disruptive
🧩 Supporting understanding of lesson content using visual aids and alternative teaching strategies
✍️ Assisting students to complete assigned work
🗣 Communicating students’ needs to teachers
🤝 Provide consultation to teachers and parents on understanding and supporting SEN students
🔗 Collaborate with external professionals, agencies, and special schools
🗂 Coordinate and contribute to case conferences
🧱 Set up and maintain special‑needs‑friendly classroom and school environments
🖍 Prepare differentiated teaching and learning resources such as:
Visual prompts for students with ASD
Differentiated worksheets for students with dyslexia
🎯 Provide skills training for students, including:
Organisational skills
Anger management
Coping with changes
Queuing and social skills
Handwriting skills
👫 Conduct peer training and support programmes (e.g. Circles of Friends)
📈 Administer and utilise progress monitoring tools
📝 Maintain accurate records on SEN students
🔁 Provide regular feedback to teachers and parents on students’ needs and progress
🚶 Conduct pre‑orientation sessions for students with ASD to familiarise them with:
School environment
Changes in classroom
New teachers and routines
🎓 Diploma in Special Education
🏫 Minimum 3 years of experience supporting students with or suspected of SEN in MOE mainstream schools
📘 Minimum 3 years of experience conducting School‑based Dyslexia Remediation (SDR)
💬 Strong communication and interpersonal skills
❤️ Patient, empathetic, and student‑focused
🤝 Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
🧠 Knowledge of ASD, dyslexia, and SEN intervention strategies
