OPERATIONS

The Operations division is a dynamic, multi-faceted organization that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow.

YOUR IMPACT

We’re looking for a professional individual who wants to apply their understanding of financial markets and be at the heart of regulatory reform. With the continued high rate of change in the regulatory reporting space, Regulatory Operations professionals have the platform to significantly impact their environment and the wider business.

OUR IMPACT
REGULATORY MIDDLE OFFICE OPERATIONS

The GSAM Regulatory Middle Office (RMO) team is responsible for overseeing GSAM’s regulatory reporting and providing subject matter expertise within various regulatory reform initiatives and external audits. The team serves as the regulatory interface for internal and external business partners including Regulators, Auditors, Fund Administrators, Custodians, Controllers, Legal, Compliance, Trading Desks, Client Relationship Management, Technology, and other Operational teams. The RMO team provides oversight and governance over regulatory filings and along with assessing potential impacts from business change events.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
RESPONSIBITLITES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Holistic ownership and strategic direction for transaction reporting regulatory regimes and external audit reporting requirements from a GSAM Operations perspective, with a specific focus on the APAC region (e.g., Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)). This includes the team's day-to-day activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Driving Automation & Process Transformation: Champion and lead initiatives to transform existing manual regulatory reporting processes into highly automated, efficient, and risk-free workflows. This involves identifying opportunities for leveraging technology, including AI and process automation tools, to enhance reporting accuracy, reduce operational risk, and improve scalability.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary subject matter expert for regulatory reporting, filing, exception management, and auditing within APAC. Proactively engage with internal Legal and Compliance teams, as well as external regulators and industry peers (e.g., MAS, ASIC), to interpret evolving regulations, discuss industry changes, gain insights, and share best practices.
  • Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and the Business. Effectively manage senior conversations, elevate open risks with clear remediation plans, and provide assurance to leadership teams regarding the robustness and compliance of regulatory reporting processes.
  • Innovation: Play an instrumental role in the implementation of large-scale, transformative initiatives across the team. Review business and functional specifications to determine potential impacts on existing regulatory obligations. Analyze front-to-back system infrastructure to understand data flows, booking models, and logic required for data capture, working closely with Engineering teams to implement and test enhancements to regulatory reporting capabilities.
  • Leadership: Mentor and develop colleagues, fostering a deep understanding of complex workflows and processes, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
