OUR IMPACT
REGULATORY MIDDLE OFFICE OPERATIONS
The GSAM Regulatory Middle Office (RMO) team is responsible for overseeing GSAM’s regulatory reporting and providing subject matter expertise within various regulatory reform initiatives and external audits. The team serves as the regulatory interface for internal and external business partners including Regulators, Auditors, Fund Administrators, Custodians, Controllers, Legal, Compliance, Trading Desks, Client Relationship Management, Technology, and other Operational teams. The RMO team provides oversight and governance over regulatory filings and along with assessing potential impacts from business change events.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
RESPONSIBITLITES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Holistic ownership and strategic direction for transaction reporting regulatory regimes and external audit reporting requirements from a GSAM Operations perspective, with a specific focus on the APAC region (e.g., Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)). This includes the team's day-to-day activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Driving Automation & Process Transformation: Champion and lead initiatives to transform existing manual regulatory reporting processes into highly automated, efficient, and risk-free workflows. This involves identifying opportunities for leveraging technology, including AI and process automation tools, to enhance reporting accuracy, reduce operational risk, and improve scalability.
- Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary subject matter expert for regulatory reporting, filing, exception management, and auditing within APAC. Proactively engage with internal Legal and Compliance teams, as well as external regulators and industry peers (e.g., MAS, ASIC), to interpret evolving regulations, discuss industry changes, gain insights, and share best practices.
- Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and the Business. Effectively manage senior conversations, elevate open risks with clear remediation plans, and provide assurance to leadership teams regarding the robustness and compliance of regulatory reporting processes.
- Innovation: Play an instrumental role in the implementation of large-scale, transformative initiatives across the team. Review business and functional specifications to determine potential impacts on existing regulatory obligations. Analyze front-to-back system infrastructure to understand data flows, booking models, and logic required for data capture, working closely with Engineering teams to implement and test enhancements to regulatory reporting capabilities.
- Leadership: Mentor and develop colleagues, fostering a deep understanding of complex workflows and processes, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum of 7+ years’ experience in financial services, with a significant portion in regulatory reporting or operations, preferably within Asset Management
- Extensive OTC Derivatives Transaction Reporting experience to MAS or ASIC, with a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape in APAC
- Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo, identify inefficiencies, and successfully drive automation and process re-engineering initiatives to create more robust and less manual regulatory reporting processes
- Ability to understand complex workflows, analyze front-to-back data flows, and meticulously identify and resolve issues, paired with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to clearly articulate complex issues and ideas, provide timely escalation, and effectively influence stakeholders at a senior level
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including industry peers and vendors, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment
- Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes holistic ownership and accountability of projects, possesses strong organizational skills, and can effectively manage competing priorities within tight deadlines
- Ability to work well at fast pace and dynamic team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Understanding of financial markets and the regulatory landscape, specifically its impact on the Asset Management Industry in APAC
- Understanding of risk (financial, operational, reputational, and regulatory) with experience in identifying and mitigating risks within reporting processes
- Practical knowledge of financial products, e.g., equities, fixed income, exchange-traded derivatives, OTC derivatives
- Knowledge about project management and business analysis methodologies
- Demonstrated interest and practical experience in data analysis, process automation, and Business Intelligence/Artificial Intelligence (BI/AI) tools relevant to regulatory reporting
