Job summary
A consulting firm in Singapore is looking for a Backend Engineer to build IoT solutions for innovative projects. Join our Client in the government sector as a Backend Engineer to build IoT solutions for exciting projects. Work on cutting-edge systems with scalable, secure cloud infrastructure. You will design, build, and maintain backend systems, integrate edge devices, and ensure secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
Working hours: 8.30am-6pm (Mon-Thurs), 8.30am-5.30pm (Fri)
Working location: Central / Hybrid Working Arrangement
Job Type: 1 Year Contract (Renewable)
Salary: Basic UP to $10,000, depending on experience

- Design, implement, and maintain IoT systems across edge devices, and backend services using protocols like MQTT, AMQP, REST, and CoAP.
- Conduct hardware-software integration testing, validation, and create comprehensive unit/integration test cases.
- Manage system documentation, including hardware setup, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Develop and deploy backend cloud services (serverless and server-based) and manage infrastructure.
- Set up monitoring and alerts, and perform ongoing code maintenance while adding new features for improved system functionality.
- Design and develop frontend solutions for IoT data transformation and maintain API documentation (OpenAPI).
- Troubleshoot system issues, optimise system performance for speed, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, and apply cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and end users to align technical solutions with business needs and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering/science, EEE or equivalent, with at least 2 years in IoT/OT device integration.
- Proficient in programming (C++, Python, .NET, Java, Node.js)
- Good working knowledge of DevOps in hybrid cloud environments, with excellent troubleshooting, communication, and ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced settings.
- Experience in serverless computing platforms (e.g., Lambda) or container technologies (e.g., Docker) would be advantageous.
- Hands‑on experience with IoT/OT deployment and integration, including AWS IoT Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, will be advantageous.
