Job Overview

Create and style hairstyles that enhance the appearance and characterisation of artistes across Drama, Entertainment, News, and Current Affairs productions. Work closely with makeup artists, costume designers, and production teams to ensure the overall visual look aligns with the creative direction, continuity requirements, and production schedules.

• Design and style appropriate hairstyles based on character, script, and production requirements.
• Collaborate with production teams and artistes to understand and interpret hairstyling needs across various genres such as drama, variety, and news.
• Maintain continuity of hairstyles across scenes and episodes by keeping detailed notes and photographic records.
• Perform hair trims when needed to ensure continuity and maintain the intended on-screen appearance throughout production.
• Care for, style, and maintain wigs, hairpieces, and extensions, ensuring proper cataloguing and storage.
• Ensure readiness of artistes for filming, live shows, and promotional events within tight schedules and budgets.
• Stay updated on new hair trends, techniques, and tools to enhance production quality.
• Assist with basic makeup and touch-ups where required to ensure a cohesive on-screen appearance.
• Maintain good hygiene sanitation and safety standards in the use of products, tools, and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by production management or the head of department.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Diploma or Professional Certificate in Hairdressing / Hairstyling from a recognised institution.
• Certification or Diploma in Makeup will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of hairstyling techniques, suitable for different hair types and on-screen requirements.
• Experience working with wigs, extensions, and hairpieces for performance or broadcast purposes.
• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in television, film, theatre, or related creative environments.
• Good understanding of current hair and fashion trends.

• Technical Expertise: Proficient in hairstyling techniques, product use, and hair maintenance for different conditions.
• Creativity: Ability to conceptualise and execute hairstyles that enhance on-screen character and personality.
• Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy and continuity across shoots.
