Expected Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS in Chemical Engineering with 10-15 years of relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of developing HMB, PFDs, P&IDs, MSDs
  • Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing
  • Basic knowledge of relief and blowdown calculations
  • Experience in process simulation development

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Developing safety philosophy documents (firewater & process safety)
  • Conducting flare radiation analysis using Flaresim or similar software
  • Performing hydrocarbon dispersion analysis with DNV Phast
  • Determining safety equipment requirements (e.g., eyewash stations, safety showers)
  • Planning plant escape and evacuation procedures and layouts
  • Performing Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) using Safeti
  • Designing firefighting systems for buildings and equipment
  • Hydraulics calculations for fire networks using Pipenet or similar software
  • Creating fire system P&IDs (firewater network and pumps)
  • Designing coverage layouts for hydrants and monitors
  • Participating in safety workshops such as PHA, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA
