Airport Planning & Operations Control General Manager
The Head of Airport Planning and Operations Control is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the efficient and safe functioning of all airport operations, including aircraft movements, passenger flow, cargo handling, ground handling, security processes, maintenance, and communication. He should also ensure adherence to local, national and international aviation regulations and standards and should implement and oversee emergency and contingency plans for airport operations. This role involves strategic planning, stakeholder management, and leading a high-performing team to achieve operational excellence.
Position Accountability Description:
- Strategic Leadership Develop and implement strategic plans for airport operations control, aligning with DACO's overall objectives.
- Drive operational efficiency, safety, and service quality initiatives.
- Lead long-term planning and resource allocation to support sustainable operations and growth.
- Operational Management: Ensure safe and smooth daily operations with continuous improvement of passenger experience and improved resource utilization.
- Ensure safe and secure environment for passengers, staff and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Optimize Airport operations to minimize delays, enhance passenger experience and improve resource utilization
- Create a framework and provide regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly operational performance analysis, reports and dashboards. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Oversee long and midterm capacity planning of the Airport and provide seasonal capacity declarations.
- Lead and manage the development of business plans and budgets.
- Crisis Management: Ensure short-term scheduling alignment and identify operational discrepancies and critical issues.
- Collect relevant information and updates from DACO stakeholders to fine-tune operational plans.
- Oversee crisis management and emergency response plans to ensure smooth "day-to-day" functioning.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including airlines, regulatory bodies, and ground handling agents.
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership on operational performance, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
- Manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational goals.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the Airport Operations Control Center and Planning team, setting clear performance expectations and providing continuous support.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and engaged workforce, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Resource Management: Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to ensure efficient airport operations.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of airport facilities, ensuring they are safe, secure, and well-maintained.
- Implement energy management and sustainability practices to optimize resource use.
- Technology and Innovation: Implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience.
- Manage IT and communication systems that support airport operations, including flight information displays, public address systems, and operational databases.
- Drive innovation through the adoption of new technologies and best practices.
Minimum Job Requirements :
1- Bachelor’s degree: Aviation Management/ Logistics and Supply Chain Management or equivalent
2- Minimum 15 years of total experience in airport operations management or a similar field within the aviation industry.
3- Preferred: Accredited Airport Executive (AAE)
