Supervisor, Materials Planning

Job Purpose

Supervisor, Materials Planning position supervises all activities of section including allocation of duties, approved inventory levels, development of procedures that will result in optimal inventory investment that minimises cash flow and stockholding costs. Develops enhancements to SAP System relating to Inventory Management activity.

Key Duties & Responsibility
  1. Manage the coordination with the Warehousing Section to ensure high level of performance during year‑end stock‑take, reconciliation in case of discrepancies and the annual cycle count programme.
  2. Ensure MRP output is managed so that Planned Orders are correctly processed to issue the related Purchase Requisitions.
  3. Identify the causes of excess and initiate actions to prevent recurrence. Define excess stock parameters. Review updated excess stock reports. Assist with the development of action plans to dispose of excess including outlets and pricing.
  4. Prepare a local emergency procurement List.
  5. Identify materials for blanket order processing.
  6. Oversee identification, classification and coding of materials purchased for stock. Ensure accuracy of coding in keeping with prescribed coding format and liaise with SAP Consultants to ensure system integrity and consistency.
  7. Set, check and monitor minimum and maximum levels to ensure that the optimum stock‑holding is maintained where necessary.
  8. Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions and practices for managing MRP outputs & demand‑planning process and systems to ensure that material needs and requirements are effectively met.
  9. Coordinate with O&M to ensure effective Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and work closely with Procurement to ensure material delivery as per MRP.
  10. Oversee data management of materials master ensuring data quality standard.
  11. Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly, and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon. Track and provide timely report of KPI, Department initiatives, Opex and Capex budget.
  12. Develop and implement procedures and SLA of material department.
  13. Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls across the section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high‑quality service and a responsible environmental attitude.
