A leading shipping and logistics company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for their facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The role involves overseeing port operations, managing vessel activities, and optimizing logistics functions. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience. Strong leadership and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.
We are searching for an experienced Operations Manager at our MSC Saudi Arabia - Ad Dammam facility.
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational activities across port, terminal, and logistics functions in Dammam. This includes managing vessel operations, coordinating with terminals, ensuring smooth cargo handling, and improving operational performance and efficiency. The Operations Manager will act as the main liaison between internal departments, terminals, and external partners to achieve seamless execution of MSC’s network objectives while maintaining compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily port and terminal operations to ensure efficient vessel turnaround and cargo handling.
Optimize berth allocation, yard utilization, gate operations, and resource deployment.
Minimize vessel idle time and port stay through proactive planning and coordination.
Liaise with terminal operators and port authorities to secure berths, equipment, and manpower as needed.
Ensure smooth execution of all MSC vessel operations, including container, breakbulk, and special cargo activities.
Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks to enhance performance, reduce costs, and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ensure compliance with all operational policies, safety standards, and local regulations.
Monitor real‑time vessel and cargo movements; provide timely updates to management and stakeholders.
Collaborate with Geneva (GVA) Network and Port Operations teams to maintain high service levels.
Analyze operational data, identify trends, and propose action plans for improvement.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, terminals, and shipping agents.
Lead operational meetings to review performance, highlight issues, and implement solutions.
Ensure all operational incidents and delays are reported promptly and resolved effectively.
Prepare regular performance reports and communicate updates to senior management.
Track and analyze key metrics related to port productivity, vessel turnaround, and cost efficiency.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance overall operational performance.
Stay updated with terminal developments, equipment upgrades, and regulatory changes impacting port operations.
Lead, mentor, and develop the local operations team to achieve excellence and high performance.
Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
Ensure staff compliance with company standards, ethics, and operational discipline.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Operations, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in port operations, logistics, or terminal management.
Proven track record in managing large-scale operational functions within the shipping or terminal industry.
Strong leadership and decision‑making capabilities.
In-depth knowledge of port operations, vessel planning, and terminal procedures.
Excellent coordination, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in operational systems and reporting tools.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Flexible to work extended hours or weekends when required.
Strong understanding of financial and risk management principles.
