    Spanning over 14 million square meters of land, the New Murabba development is planned as a premier modern downtown destination in Riyadh. It is envisioned to deliver an exceptional blend of leisure, retail, entertainment and residential experiences, while supporting the Royal Commission for Riyadh City’s goal of establishing Riyadh among the world’s top ten cities. The project aligns with key priorities such as economic growth fostering advancements in technology, innovation and creativity.
    Bechtel’s role at the New Murabba development is Early Works, Infrastructure and Public Realm. The Early Works involves the initial set up on the project, from fencing, offices to logistics and construction indirect.

    The infrastructure work covers earthworks, expressways, roads, metro, power, water, sewage, district cooling, irrigation, automated waste collection, telecommunications and all other utilities required for the city to function smoothly. As for the expansive areas of Public Realm, it’s inclusive of all the landscaping, hardscaping, water features, lighting and public art.

    Job Summary:

    Integrates sustainability issues and requirements (as per client direction and any environmental impact assessments) into project level documents including proposing language for tenders, contracts and submittals. The role supports the integration of environmental and sustainability considerations into design specifications and criteria and construction plans for the Project. The role has technical responsibility to review contractor fulfillment of obligations to achieve client sustainability goals and certifications, including establishing clarity on credit achievement requirements. In performing this role, the individual should be fully familiar with the contract terms, scope, and requirements. The candidate will need to work as part of the larger Program Management Consultant team to fulfil our obligations and contribute to the success of the Project. #LI-AR2

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Support and advocate for the implementation of the client's sustainability objectives and targets.
    • Work with Manager to help interpret complex requirements, identifying any conflicting requirements, and evaluating and applying appropriate scientific/environmental principles in recommendations for resolution Provide technical expertise on achievement of sustainability rating systems aligned to client goals, and development of specific requirements for contractors
    • Work with colleagues to integrate sustainability requirements into bid documents and contracts, participate in kick-off meetings as requested and provide orientation of contractors to adhere to sustainability requirements.
    • Review required submittals for adherence to sustainability requirements, identifying any inconsistencies and facilitating compliance as required.
    • Participates in workshops and meetings with relevant stakeholders as required for solid understanding of requirements, resolution of issues in deliverables, further guidance or decisions as appropriate and keeps good records of discussions and decisions. Formulate plans and methods to maintain compliance with environmental sustainability requirements and identifies and raises any risks to compliance with regulatory or certification requirements Tracks progress and provides updates on contractor performance in meeting sustainability requirements and goals.
    • Coordinates with, and provides technical support to, project-assigned functional leads (e.g., ES&H, procurement, construction, project controls) regarding project-specific environmental and sustainability requirements
    Education and Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Science with Environmental Management, Engineering, Architecture, Planning or other relevant degree. Minimum 8 years professional experience in environmental management, mitigation, sustainability certifications and monitoring in the construction industry.
    • Qualifications and experience in project certification to sustainable rating systems (e.g. LEED, Envision, Mostadam), with infrastructure rating systems preferred. Experience in the Middle East, ideally in Saudi Arabia, and working in cross-cultural environments.
    • Familiar with KSA environmental laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ permitting processes and responsibilities, industry standards for environmental compliance, and best management practices for minimizing potential environmental impacts during project execution.
    Required Knowledge and Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge of sustainable design and construction, environmental management and mitigation.
    • Knowledge of environmental sciences, engineering and construction systems, principles, and methodologies.
    • Possesses sustainability rating qualifications from national/international accrediting organizations/associations.
    • Awareness of ISO 14001 and sustainability topics and frameworks.
    • Experience and knowledge of relevant national and international policies and best practice in sustainability Possess a working understanding of GIS and BIM.
    • Understanding of Engineering, Procurement and Construction work processes Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of environmental subcontractors, consultants and Tier 1 Contractors. Skilled in oral and written communication, able to listen, explain, explore and discuss environmental and sustainability issues and explore solutions with colleagues and contractors.
