Job Purpose
To strengthen the reliability, manufacturability, and compliance of MV switchgear products through structured design risk management, DFMEA execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role focuses on integrating Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters, applying Design-to-Manufacturing (DTM) principles, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet IEC standards and business objectives.
Key Accountability Areas
Design Risk Management (DFMEA)
- Lead the preparation, execution, and maintenance of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for MV switchgear products (RMUs, circuit breakers, load break switches, mechanisms, CTs/VTs, and busbars).
- Evaluate severity, occurrence, and detection ratings to drive actionable risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain DFMEA documentation throughout the product lifecycle to support audits and compliance.
Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) and Design Validation
- Define CTQ parameters (dielectric strength, temperature rise, mechanical endurance, interlocking reliability, and safety margins) and integrate them into design requirements.
- Ensure CTQ compliance through type testing, reliability assessments, and validation activities based on IEC 62271 series.
Design-to-Manufacturing (DTM) and Assembly Optimization (DTA)
- Apply DTM/DTA methodologies to optimize product designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless industrialization and production readiness.
Design Assurance and Reporting
- Provide structured risk and quality input during design reviews.
- Create dashboards and reports to track DFMEA status, CTQ metrics, and closure of action items.
- Lead workshops and initiatives to strengthen product design robustness and minimize risks.
Role Accountability
HR Proficiency:
- Ability to obtain updated soft and technical skills related to the job.
Delivery:
- Perform the planned activities to meet the operational and development targets as per delivery schedules.
- Utilize resources effectively to achieve objectives within efficient cost and time.
- Provide a periodic report detailing deviation and execution of planned tasks.
Problem-Solving:
- Address related problems as they arise and escalate when necessary.
Quality:
- Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control and processes including specifications for products or processes or related activities.
Business Process Improvements:
- Coordinate well-defined written systems, policies, procedures, and seek automation opportunities where possible.
Compliance:
- Adhere to related policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Health, Safety, and Environment:
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.
