Role Purpose
The Plant & Equipment Manager at Al Bawany is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, operations, maintenance, allocation, and lifecycle management of all company-owned and leased heavy equipment, plant machinery, and transport assets. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, safety, cost efficiency, and performance across all projects. This position leads equipment procurement strategies, preventive maintenance programs, workshop operations, and asset optimization to support construction productivity and organizational goals.
Job Accountabilities
- Lead daily operations of the Plant & Equipment division, ensuring efficient deployment and utilization of assets across projects.
- Monitor equipment productivity, downtime, and operational KPIs to ensure maximum availability.
- Implement standards for safe operations, inspection routines, and operator performance.
- Coordinate with project managers to plan equipment needs and ensure timely mobilization/demobilization.
- Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for heavy equipment, transport vehicles, and plant machinery.
- Supervise workshops and mobile maintenance units to ensure timely repairs and compliance with technical standards.
- Conduct technical assessments to identify recurring issues and recommend engineering improvements.
- Ensure maintenance documentation, service logs, and equipment histories are accurate and updated.
- Lead equipment replacement planning, asset disposal, and lifecycle cost analysis to optimize fleet value.
- Track asset performance trends and analyze total cost of ownership (TCO).
- Oversee equipment registration, licensing, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure equipment availability forecasts and long-term fleet planning are aligned with project demand.
- Collaborate with Procurement to specify plant and equipment requirements and evaluate suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with vendors, OEMs, and rental providers.
- Review spare parts requirements, manage inventory levels, and ensure cost effective sourcing.
- Evaluate vendor performance and enforce adherence to SLAs, delivery standards, and warranty terms.
- Ensure all equipment operations comply with company HSE policies, manufacturer guidelines, and Saudi regulations. Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and competency checks for operators and maintenance staff.
- Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures to enhance safety performance.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in plant, heavy equipment, or fleet management within construction or related industries.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery (cranes, excavators, loaders, generators, compressors, etc.).
- Strong background in maintenance planning, workshop operations, and equipment diagnostics.
- Proven leadership experience managing large technical teams across multiple sites.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, cost control, and equipment utilization analytics
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline (required).
- Advanced training or certification in heavy equipment management is an advantage
- Equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
- Knowledge of CMMS/CAFM systems for equipment scheduling and maintenance records.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, and mechanical components.
- Budgeting, cost estimation, and asset lifecycle financial analysis.
- Data-driven reporting using KPIs, dashboards, and utilization of metrics
