Job description
Purpose

The Planner/schedule shall liaise with the Plant O&M departments for smooth functioning of work management process and shall be responsible for its proper implementation and execution to support equipment reliability and plant needs. You will support Planning Engineer and Planning Lead for plant routine maintenance and long-term planning in accordance with the Maintenance Department budget, OEM guidelines and Industry best Practices.

You will coordinate the Plant planning meetings and resources to direct efficient and effective use of site resources to improve equipment reliability. The role requires hands on understanding and practical experience of the planning work requirements in a large power plant using SAP in a modern combined cycle gas turbine and desalination plant with a wide range of auxiliary equipment.

Planner/Schedule shall have the responsibility for streamlining preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs in SAP. Monthly project status reports generation remains one of the key activities.

Task & Responsibilities

Assist and drive Maintenance in their daily maintenance and outage duties. This shall include scheduling, planning, progress tracking of all major activities by preparing milestone charts, project and development programs. Responsible to ensure compliance of IMS.

Planning & Scheduling
  • Plan and monitor major outages, shutdowns, and turnaround activities, including resource forecasting.
  • Prepare and update milestone charts, project schedules, and progress reports.
  • Ensure the week ahead system implementation.
  • Drive towards a continuous optimization of the PM overall schedule. Follow-up and track the backlogs on corrective work and planned works.
  • Follow-up and drive the O&M team to reach scheduled and/or optimized outage targets.
  • Ensure performance and warranty-related activities are integrated into maintenance schedules.
  • Planning, Scheduling and Monitoring of Power Plant
Coordination & Communication
  • Support to develop and implement new maintenance strategies like FMEA and RCM.
  • Review, develop and implement proven maintenance programs in preventive & predictive maintenance programs using SAP.
  • Shall liaise with the Planning Engineer to incorporate all performance and warranty related activities in daily and/or long-term outage planning.
  • Drive the Maintenance team in completion of CM and PM as per planned schedule. Forecast and review all necessary resources (labor, material, contractors, experts...).
  • Daily coordinator between O&M teams during Power Unit and MED outage activities. Preparation and updating of shutdown activity list per priority for every Unit.
  • Coordinate the planning of Routine Maintenance and act as a medium of change from reactive to proactive maintenance.
  • Plan and coordinate with Maintenance Department for corrective maintenance repairs, performance of preventive maintenance and surveillance, and the implementation of modifications.
  • Coordinate planning meetings to align priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure smooth execution.
  • Track maintenance backlogs and support continuous schedule optimization.
Reporting & Monitoring
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance and outage planning reports.
  • Monitor compliance with IMS, HSE standards, and corporate procedures.
  • Provide progress tracking and variance analysis for planned vs. actual work.
  • Optimization & Continuous Improvement.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to planning processes, tools, and reporting systems.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in using SAP, MS Project and use of MS Office programs.
  • Proficiency in SAP PM, MS Project, and Primavera P6 (preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communicator and team player with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of maintenance KPIs and performance monitoring.
