Mechanical Engineer | Principal Rotating (Jubail, Saudi Arabia)

The Principal Rotating Engineer (steam turbine & compressors) holding Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering (20+ years) and shall be responsible for the design, review and verification of engineering on assigned projects to ensure safe, high quality, fit for purpose design in addition to providing consultancy services and studies to Affiliates. As a lead he shall ensure Rotating engineering is aligned with all disciplines, executing the work within budget and on schedule whilst motivating and managing a team of engineers and designers and developing younger engineers.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Assure that Safety is always the first and the most important aspect all work related full compliance of Process Safety Design requirements for the project
• Local Regulations – incorporation of local regulatory requirements into the engineering design
• Engineering Standard (ES) – Review, update and development the ES
• ITB (Invitation to bid) Technical Part: Update ITB technical Rotating Equipment part) template
• Preparation of the project specific Rotating section Invitation To Bid (ITB) documents for mega projects.
• Technical bid clarification activities, face-to-face clarification meetings with bidders, technical evaluation reports, bidder ratings and other bidding cycle activities up to the award of contract.
• Design and develop PDP and FEED Rotating packages

Review the following:

• EPC discipline documents and deliverables
• Basic & detailed engineering documents
• Key documents such as Rotor dynamics and other mechanical design Reports

Additional responsibilities:

• Act as Rotating Lead on Medium / Large projects
• Lead Technical Assurance Audits of larger mega projects to ensure that Company standards, Local Regulations and project specifications and requirements are followed by the Contractor.

Responsible for the following:

• Review, development and approval of the project design, calculations, datasheets and drawings in line with the Rotating engineering requirements of the E&PM Technical Authority Schedule.
• Delivery, cost, schedule, planning and progress reporting
• Ensure the timely completion of all studies, designs, specifications, drawings and other documentation for areas of responsibility assigned to no Rotating related NCRs during project life
• Provide a Rotating engineering consultancy service to the Affiliates, Mega and Site Projects.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments and groups as necessary.
• Evaluate waivers and clarifications of SES within PE&S KPI Targets. As required, participate in evaluating client's Rotating Equipment performance and make appropriate recommendation
• Be responsible for the development of staff working under his control. Advise the Department Manager of deficiencies requiring training for correction. Transfer his personal skills to subordinates.

To be competent in the following area:

• Deep knowledge of relevant international codes API, ASME, ISO, PIP standards and Industrial practices and regulations
• Comprehensive and in- depth knowledge is essential for handling of all the activities related to development /review of rotating equipment engineering deliverables during basic and detailed engineering phases of major projects.
• Experience in preparation of Mechanical Data sheets based on Process data sheets for rotating equipment.
• Experience in preparation of Request for quotations, Material requisitions , evaluation of Technical offers , project specifications.
• Experience in selection and application of Rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, Extruders and machinery packages. Capability to review and approve Rotating Equipment design Rotor dynamics and other mechanical design Reports.
• Knowledge in Value Engineering techniques/ practices. Troubleshooting all rotating equipment-related malfunctions and shall have core strength to carryout Root Cause Analysis of plant's chronic problems and develop the solution for resolving such problems.
• Work with vendor technical representatives to resolve equipment technical problems.
• In-depth experience in Rotating design in PDP & FEED. Preparation of proposal for PDP and FEED
• Train, coach and mentor
• Preparing technical articles for publication and presentation at conferences
• Able to do following: take proper and quick decision. Work independently. Manage all aspects regarding to rotating design engineering. Provide and develop appropriate technical solutions for specific project issues. Ensure the delivery of challenging project and client targets using sound technical knowledge and decision making skills
