Job Purpose
Responsible for overseeing daily fleet operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective utilization of company vehicles and equipment. Ensures compliance with company policies, maintenance standards, and regulatory requirements while supporting operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily fleet activities, including vehicle allocation, dispatching, and routing.
- Ensure all company vehicles are properly maintained, serviced, and compliant with safety and regulatory standards.
- Overseeing rental agreements and invoices.
- Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and operating costs to optimize efficiency.
- Maintain accurate fleet records (registration, insurance, inspections, maintenance logs).
- Manage fleet breakdowns, repairs, and coordinate with workshops and service providers.
- Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Track drivers’ performance, driving behavior, and adherence to safety policies.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness of vehicles.
- Handle accidents and incident reporting, including insurance claims and follow-up.
- Support procurement of vehicles, spare parts, and fleet equipment as needed.
- Develop and improve fleet operational procedures to enhance productivity and reduce cost.
- Prepare reports on fleet performance, maintenance activities, and asset utilization.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies and promote safety culture within the fleet team.
- Lead, coach, and train fleet drivers and staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in fleet operations or transportation management.
- Experience in utilities or industrial sector preferred.
- Knowledge of fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and maintenance planning.
- Fleet Management Professional (CFM).
- Logistics certifications (e.g., APICS, CILT).
- Safety/Compliance training (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH..etc).
