Job description

As part of Tomorrow.io's Customer Team, the Solutions Engineering (SE) Team makes it possible for weather-sensitive industries like technology and on-demand, construction, aviation, energy, outdoor entertainment, autonomous cars, drones, and other forward-thinking businesses, to operate faster than the speed of weather.

We're looking for a Field Solutions Engineer to join our global team. Our SEs fill a dynamic and essential client‑facing role, interacting collaboratively with prospective clients and Tomorrow.io sales representatives, product managers, and R&D to deliver outstanding results and great value. Dedicated to our clients' success and satisfaction, the SEs are responsible for designing the right solutions for business problems. The role requires highly effective management and people skills coupled with robust multi‑tasking capabilities. The SE is a critical member of the customer‑facing team, and the position is one which brings with it an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within a lively and challenging environment.

In this role, you’ll support all pre‑ and post‑sales technical efforts for government customers across the APAC region — including Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Thailand, and more.

Please note that this role requires extensive international travel (planned and unplanned), including travel that might occur on short notice.

What you’ll do:
  • Serve as the frontline sales and solutions lead for prospective customers across global governments (state, local, federal, and international) and enterprise, acting as a trusted advisor who can think on their feet and respond in real time
  • Lead customer‑facing conversations end‑to‑end, from discovery to close, confidently facilitating meetings, presentations, and workshops with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate Tomorrow.io’s value in fast‑moving, high‑stakes environments by deeply understanding customer missions and translating complex technical capabilities into compelling business outcomes
  • Own problem discovery and solution design, including building and delivering live demonstrations and Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements, often on short timelines
  • Lead proposal development for strategic opportunities, including U.S. and international government deals, coordinating inputs across internal teams and driving momentum to submission
  • Advocate relentlessly for customer needs by partnering cross‑functionally with Product and R&D to shape solutions and unblock issues
  • Operate with flexibility and urgency - this role is not a traditional 9‑to‑5 and may require travel and customer engagement on short notice, including during critical events
  • Become a subject‑matter expert in Tomorrow.io’s current and future capabilities, working closely with Sales and Business Development to drive revenue and close complex deals
What you bring:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in operational meteorology, weather forecasting, or applied climate services
  • Strong applied understanding of radar and satellite data interpretation, nowcasting, and the use of NWP outputs for real‑world decision‑making
  • Experience in the SaaS or weather technology industry, ideally supporting enterprise or government clients in technical roles
  • Familiarity with APIs and cloud‑based data integration workflows
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and explain complex topics to diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced environment, especially in a cross‑functional team that spans multiple time zones
  • Ability to travel internationally, often with very little notice
Bonus Experience:
  • Master’s degree or higher in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related discipline
  • Hands‑on experience working with geospatial datasets (e.g., satellite, radar, or reanalysis data)
  • Familiarity with configuring or analyzing NWP model workflows, ensemble forecasting systems, or data assimilation techniques
  • Experience advising or delivering technical solutions to public‑sector organizations in the APAC region
  • Proficiency with relevant tools or languages (e.g., GIS, Python, WRF, ECMWF APIs)
  • Fluency in one or more regional languages (e.g., Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Thai, Vietnamese, Tagalog)
  • Prior experience in pre‑sales, customer success, or implementation roles at early‑stage or growth‑stage tech companies

Tomorrow.io Solutions Engineers play a crucial role in our sales cycle by both designing the solutions and guiding customers to realize the business value. You will constantly be collaborating with account executives, customer success representatives, product managers and research scientists, and demonstrating that you are a thought leader in both weather intelligence and the industries we serve. Ultimately, you will help our customers improve the way they make critical business decisions using Tomorrow.io’s Intelligence Platform.

If your experience is close but doesn’t fulfill all requirements, please apply. Tomorrow.io is on a mission to build a special company. To achieve our goal, we are focused on hiring people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
