JOB SUMMARY

Accountable for the overall success of engineering operations across the property, including building maintenance, grounds care, and physical plant management. Oversees safety, security, and asset protection while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Responsible for managing budgets, capital projects, energy conservation, and preventative maintenance strategies. Leads the emergency response team and drives operational excellence through innovation, leadership, and a commitment to guest satisfaction. Develops and implements engineering strategies that align with brand standards and financial goals.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED; 6 years experience in engineering, maintenance, or related professional area; technical training in HVAC‑R, Electrical, or Plumbing
  • OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 4 years experience in engineering, maintenance, or related professional area; technical training in HVAC‑R, Electrical, or Plumbing
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES: Leading Engineering Operations and Budgets
  • Oversees daily engineering operations and leads the property’s engineering team
  • Manages physical plant systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and water treatment
  • Reviews financial reports and identifies areas of concern for leadership
  • Develops and manages engineering budget and capital expenditure goals
  • Administers service contracts and supervises construction projects
  • Implements long‑term preventative maintenance and asset protection plans
  • Aligns departmental goals with property strategy and communicates objectives clearly
  • Coaches team on managing controllable expenses and energy efficiency
Maintaining Engineering Standards
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintains life safety systems including fire equipment, sprinklers, and alarms
  • Ensures licenses, permits, and certifications are current and valid
  • Upholds property policies and ensures consistent administration
Managing Profitability
  • Reviews operating statements and payroll reports to manage expenses
  • Participates in budgeting and prepares P&L critiques
  • Manages payroll and departmental costs to meet or exceed financial targets
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements
  • Oversees capital projects and vendor relationships
Conducting Human Resources Activities
  • Ensures fair and equitable treatment of employees
  • Administers performance reviews and disciplinary procedures
  • Maintains open communication and addresses employee concerns
  • Recognizes team contributions and celebrates successes
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to resolve issues and support team development
