Functional Description

The Data Analyst in the Career and Professional Development Center is responsible for managing and analyzing data to support the strategic initiatives of the university and the center. This role involves collecting, processing, and interpreting alumni data to enhance engagement, support surveying efforts, and contribute to the overall mission of the university to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision‑making.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Data Management and Analysis
  • In charge of maintaining the data accuracy and validity of the Career Service Management platform (simplicity), overviewed by the center.
  • Support needs of other departments that require data from simplicity.
  • Collect, clean, and maintain alumni data from multiple sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Analyze alumni and expected to graduate data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform alumni engagement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to alumni engagement, giving, and event participation.
  • Conduct predictive analytics to identify potential high-value donors and develop targeted outreach strategies.
Reporting and Visualization
  • Create detailed and comprehensive reports to communicate findings to the Center team and other university stakeholders.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to present data in a clear and compelling manner.
Collaboration and Support
  • Collaborate with center units, and other university departments to gather data requirements and support their data needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data-driven alumni engagement initiatives.
Data Governance and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and relevant regulations regarding data privacy and security.
  • Develop and implement data governance practices to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of data processes and procedures.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data analytics and apply this knowledge to improve existing processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Two years of related experience in data analysis, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and data visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and best practices in data management.
