Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and consultants throughout project phases.
- Review and approve method statements, work programs, and resource plans submitted by contractors.
- Monitor project progress against baseline program and provide mitigation strategies for delays.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, QA/QC procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, progress meetings, and provide reports to the Project Director/Client.
- Manage interfaces between disciplines (civil, MEP, infrastructure, finishing, etc.) to ensure smooth execution.
- Review and certify contractor progress claims, variations, and change orders in coordination with cost/commercial teams.
- Enforce project specifications, drawings, and contract terms, ensuring no deviations without approval.
- Lead resolution of technical and construction issues and escalate where required.
- Support client in stakeholder management and coordinate with local authorities for approvals and inspections.
- Mentor and supervise project engineers and site staff, building a high-performing project delivery team.
- Drive value engineering initiatives and identify opportunities for construction efficiency.
- Ensure project handover and close-out are completed with proper documentation, testing, and commissioning.
- Develop and implement construction execution strategies in line with client’s objectives.
- Review and validate construction schedules (Level 3/Level 4) submitted by contractors.
- Coordinate with design management teams to ensure constructability and resolve design conflicts before execution.
- Enforce strict adherence to approved ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans) and quality benchmarks.
- Ensure that all construction permits and approvals are in place before work starts.
- Monitor and manage site logistics, manpower planning, equipment deployment, and material delivery schedules.
- Track daily/weekly progress against key milestones, issuing early warnings for potential slippages.
- Manage interface between infrastructure, utilities, and housing components to avoid clashes.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems and finishing works.
- Coordinate with cost/commercial team to assess impact of variations, claims, and change orders.
- Ensure proper document control, site records, and as-built drawings are maintained.
- Implement risk management measures to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks proactively.
- Organize and chair weekly site coordination and progress review meetings with contractors and consultants.
- Ensure all works are carried out with zero accident culture, conducting toolbox talks and site safety audits.
- Support client in handover inspections, snag list clearance, and final acceptance certificates.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to site engineers, supervisors, and junior staff, ensuring continuous skill development.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the client on construction-related matters.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 15+ years’ experience, including at least 5 years in a Construction Manager role.
- Proven track record in large-scale housing/residential projects under PMC/consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of project planning tools (Primavera P6/MS Project).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
