Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical‑based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical‑based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Support Corning Mold Development Engineering, through Data Analytics and Data Engineering, in the mission of providing our customers with world‑class tooling for new product introductions, capacity upgrades, molding process improvements, global standardization, and cost reduction.

• Provide support to MDE in development of its various data pipelines, representing the team in digital projects and digital tool development.
• Perform analysis of available options for data handling and ingestion and help align with best practices in industry and the corporation.
• Evaluate end user needs to deliver best in class data handling.
• Data and Project Management
  • Interface with corporate server and cloud environments including DataBricks, AWS, PI.
  • Support on‑site in integration, validation, and deployment of digital tools and molding data.
• Coding and Application Development/Deployment
  • Ability to code in python with strong debugging skills.
  • Ability to work within cloud environments developing applications and deploying them.
  • Create task automation within Microsoft 365 environments using power automate or similar tools.
  • Projects involved with: (New product introductions, Capacity molds for expanding product lines, Continuous improvement projects, Research support for new technologies, Global standardization, governance, and global mold process improvement).

Education: BS in Data Engineering or equivalent degree.

Experience Requirements: Applicant must have >1 years knowledge of Data Engineering and related fields, can include Intern and project related work.

Required Skills: Strong project execution capability, detailed knowledge of all types of Data Engineering and coding tools (Python and Databricks), Ability to utilize all MS Office applications, Knowledge of best practices for data, data handling, and data manipulation, Effective verbal and written communication, Ability to lead or participate in cross‑functional teams.

Desired Skills: Familiarity with injection molding processing and injection molds, experience with Machine Learning/AI, Experience deploying dashboards, Experience with python visual libraries.
