Transportation Operations Management (TOM) oversees trailer yard operations at 13 Fulfillment Centers (FC), 3 Sort Centers (SC), and 1 Cross Dock (IXD) across Mexico, ensuring yard safety, efficient trailer movement, and guard shack operations management. TOM is the main focal point between Site Operations and the Transportation Network.

TOM is part of Amazon Transportation Services (ATS), a dynamic team focused on shaping middle-mile transportation execution and developing innovative transportation management concepts to improve and enhance the ATS Network, ultimately delivering a reliable and cost-efficient customer experience.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Lead and supervise a team focused on yard operations, aligning Fulfillment Center operations with transportation execution.
  2. Plan and manage yard capacity and trailer pool for the designated site.
  3. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  4. Drive high safety standards for all yard operations, ensuring a safe work environment for Amazon and non-Amazon workers.
  5. Audit and ensure compliance with all standard work, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), and environmental regulations.
  6. Meet and exceed operational goals.
  7. Own area performance metrics and communicate them to TOM and site leadership.
A day in the life

Every morning begins with a review of key transportation metrics—Safety Yard Events and On Time Departure (OTD), which measures the efficiency of package movement through our network. Afterward, you will participate in Gemba Walks and Daily Dive Deep Meetings at your site.

As a TAM, you'll play a pivotal role in driving Amazon's logistics evolution—shaping how goods move, empowering our people, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Minimum requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience.
  • 2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Intermediate English communication skills.
  • 1+ years of experience with performance metrics, process improvements, or lean techniques.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and Lean methodologies.
