Una empresa líder en el sector manufacturero busca un Gerente de Herramientas en Tijuana. Este rol es responsable de supervisar el mantenimiento y la reparación de moldes, dirigir un equipo de técnicos, y colaborar con ingeniería para optimizar procesos. Se requiere experiencia extensa en gestión de talleres y elaboración de moldes, así como habilidades fuertes en resolución de problemas. Se valorará el dominio de herramientas específicas y un enfoque en la excelencia operativa.

Formación

  • 10+ años de experiencia práctica en el taller (reparación y fabricación de moldes).
  • 5+ años de experiencia en gestión/liderazgo del taller en la industria de alto volumen.
  • Bilingüe (Español-Inglés).

Responsabilidades

  • Supervisar y liderar un equipo de técnicos de moldes y fabricantes de herramientas.
  • Gestionar el programa de mantenimiento preventivo y cronograma de reparaciones.
  • Trabajar con el equipo de ingeniería de procesos para solucionar defectos.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Thetooling manager will oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimal functioningof 101 class mold used in our injection molding department. This rolewill direct and coordinate the day-to-day activities of internal moldtechnicians as well as coordinate repairs with external tool shops.

Thisposition will work very closely with the process engineering team to optimize the injection molding operations and with the tool room managers in othersister facilities to share and implement the company’s best practices.

MAJOR DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise and lead a team of mold technicians and toolmakers

· Provide training, assign tasks, and ensure adherence tosafety, quality and efficiency standards

· Manage preventive maintenance and repair schedule

· Diagnose mold-related problems, conduct root cause analysisand implement corrective and preventive action.

· Lead, prioritize and coordinate timely repairs to restoremolds to operational condition

· Work with process engineering to troubleshoot defects inpress, driving accountability in the use of the escalation tool minimizing downtime

· Hands-On repair for most critical tools

· Responsible for developing and managing the annual tool roombudget and capex

· Responsible for the department’s performance metrics anddevelops cross-functional plans to improve tool reliability and uptime

· Work with the engineering team to identify spare parts neededby tool

· Work closely with production, engineering, quality assuranceto align mold readiness with production schedules

· Participate in mold design reviews and recommend changes toimprove mold reliability

· Identify trends and recurring issues and implement root-causes fixes.

· Work safely and maintain a safe, organized and clean working environment (inside and outside the tool room) by ensuring the team complies withprocedures, rules, and regulations

· Ensure compliance with local, municipal, state and federallaws and regulations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of hands on experience in tool room (mold repair and mold maker experience)
  • 5+ years of tool room management/leadership experience in high mix high volume industry
  • Experience with CNC machining, EDM, welding (laser, micro, tig)
  • Familiarity with tolerances, GD&T, and blueprint reading
  • Strong competence in project management
  • Experience leading tooling teams in a fast-paced MFG environment, in a manner that drives teamwork, collaboration and a high degree of integrity
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Injection molding Process Engineering knowledge

· Bilingual (Spanish- English)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Creo proficiency

· Lean Six Sigma Champion or Black Belt certification

· RJG Certification
