Position Summary

Responsible for performing system design engineering for industrial automation projects based on programmable controllers, drives, operator/field devices, and communication networks.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes the customer's requirements to determine the optimal controls system strategy solutions and determines applicable industrial controls configurations and architectures.
  • Develops high quality electrical/layout diagrams and a corresponding Bill of Materials by reviewing customer requirements, standards, quotes, specifications and/or manager description/sketches.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing and the project manager to support an engineering design, part delivery, and presents status and options as required to maintain budget and delivery schedule.
  • Supports manufacturing to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off.
  • Responsible for meeting project schedule, engineering hour budgets, and customer satisfaction targets for own activities.
  • Identifies scope deviations and communicates early and often the impact to hardware cost, schedule or resource needs to the project manager and department manager.
  • Coordinates customer requirements with appropriate departments to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • May assist sales or project management with providing scope definitions, hardware and labor estimates and validations of proposals.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design, including schematics and panel layout using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley Powerflex drives, and PLCs.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including the NEC, NFPA79, UL508A.
  • Must perform duties in the office as part of a project team and demonstrate technical leadership skills.
  • Available and willing to work overtime to meet customer project commitments.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in control system applications related to variable speed drives and industrial automation systems.
  • Drive, PLC and HMI programming.
