A U.S.-Based Textiles & Manufacturing Firm is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Mexico to manage daily accounting functions, month-end close activities, and financial reporting. Ideal candidates have strong SAP experience and a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP. The role supports collaboration across departments and requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position is full-time and suited for individuals with experience in multi-entity environments.

Formación

  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a multi-entity or global environment.
  • Experience working for a U.S.-based company is required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. sales tax, inventory accounting, or duty/tariff considerations.

Staff Accountant

Location : Latin America

Company : Confidential – U.S.-Based Textiles & Manufacturing Firm

Reports To : Controller

Status : Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with strong SAP experience and a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP. The ideal candidate has prior experience working for a U.S.-based company and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment.

This role will support daily accounting functions, month-end close activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration across global operations.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Accounting Operations

Support day-to-day accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank entries, and journal postings.

Process vendor invoices, employee expenses, credit card reconciliations, and payment runs.

Maintain accurate financial records within SAP Business One, including journal entries, reporting, and system workflows.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Perform timely month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations (cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, intercompany accounts, etc.).

Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.

Support the Controller in ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.

Tax, Compliance & Audit Support

Assist with sales tax and use tax filings.

Support external auditors during quarterly and annual reviews.

Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to internal control procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

Partner with Procurement, Logistics, Sales, and Operations teams to support business objectives.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and help streamline accounting workflows across the organization.

Required Qualifications

2+years of accounting experience , preferably in a multi-entity or global environment.

Hands-on experience with SAP (SAP Business One strongly preferred).

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles.

Experience working for a U.S.-based company (required).

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliation tools).

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working across departments and time zones.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Avalara / Avatax .

Exposure to SAP B1 add-ons (e.g., Boyum, B1UP).

Background in import / export, textiles / apparel, or manufacturing industries .

Familiarity with U.S. sales tax, inventory accounting, or duty / tariff considerations.
