Overview
New Product Development & Custom Products
Responsibilities
- Lead project teams to translate customer, regulatory, and performance requirements into product designs.
- Provide design leadership and guidance to Mechanical Designers.
- Perform 3D modeling and drawing creation using SolidWorks.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analyses and determine critical characteristics.
- Perform design analysis including FEA, fluid flow, and thermal simulations.
- Create and validate test requirements; oversee prototype builds.
- Prepare Bills of Material (BoMs) and specify materials/finishes.
- Utilize industry standards, DFMEA, and best practices to ensure product success.
Product Changes
- Lead and support Engineering Change Request/Change Order (ECR/ECO) processes.
- Approve changes to product documentation and specifications.
- Create supporting documentation for product installation and service.
Business Improvements
- Develop standardized templates and procedures to improve design processes.
- Drive continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing engineering workflows.
- Act as a subject matter expert in cross-functional initiatives.
- Review products for cost reduction opportunities and implement improvements.
Sustaining Engineering
- Support manufacturing operations with engineering expertise.
- Evaluate end-of-life purchased components and specify replacements.
- Lead VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and product improvement projects.
- Drive cross-functional product/process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- SolidWorks certification(s)
- Knowledge of passive harmonic filters, AC chokes, and PDUs
- Fluency in English
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of engineering experience preferred
- Strong experience with SolidWorks, PDM, and simulation tools (FEA, flow, and thermal)
- Proficient in MS Office tools
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- High level of understanding of all aspects of design process.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts.
