A global leader in business applications is seeking an SDM Apps Development Lead located in San Luis Potosí, México. You will oversee application service delivery, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and drive development initiatives for SAP ECC and S/4. Ideal candidates hold a degree in computer science, have strong communication skills in English, and possess a solid understanding of SAP functionalities. This role emphasizes service standardization and improvement, working closely with diverse teams to enhance application performance and user satisfaction.

Formación

SDM Apps Development Lead

Location: Mina Las Cuevas, San Luis Potosí, México

Job Summary / Purpose

Our Service Delivery Management team is responsible for the operational continuity of Orbia’s Global Business Applications, including SAP ECC, S/4, CFIN, SuccessFactors, and others. The role supervises the Service Delivery of these applications under a Managed Service partner, ensuring delivery standards, best practices, and security are maintained. Additionally, this position leads development initiatives in the applications, supports and monitors AMS partner services, and provides operational support for escalations, in‑house developed apps, or legacy apps.

Main Responsibilities
  • Create best practices and operational processes for Application Development in SAP ECC and S/4 (ABAP, BTP, Fiori).
  • Serve as a point of contact for Orbia’s LATAM companies, guiding them through the Service Delivery Model and ensuring timely support.
  • Provide operational support in collaboration with the AMS partner for in‑house or legacy application development.
  • Offer ideas to Application Solution leads for legacy apps/integrations to be included in the target architecture roadmap.
  • Support transition to target architecture (e.g., local application to S/4 BTP portals or apps).
  • Ensure developments/customizations in S/4 follow the Digital Decoupling strategy defined by the Orbia Global Applications team.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce incidents and enable self‑service (e.g., self‑healing, monitoring and alert systems, automation of standard requests).
  • Drive and encourage new ways of working with the AMS partner, such as DevOps or Scrum.
  • Participate in the major incident process for Americas applications/times zones.
  • Participate in CAB or coordinate with IT Service Desk meetings when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good understanding of SAP ECC and S/4 technical and development functionalities (BTP, Basis, ABAP, Fiori/Java, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of ITIL framework.
  • Ability to take on responsibilities with a constructive and collaborative approach.
  • Passion for service standardization and improvement.
  • Excellent people skills, ability to manage escalations from business colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and time efficiently, coordinating with external partners.
  • Initiative and proactive approach to daily tasks.
