The role of Major Account Fire Underwriter is based in Madrid and reports to the Major Account Property Team Leader. In this role, you will be responsible for setting, implementing, and achieving underwriting profit goals in line with Chubb's business plan for the Major Account Segment. Chubb ensures underwriting integrity through the appropriate deployment of underwriting guidelines and controls, ensuring consistency in risk selection, pricing, and the correct use of capacity, while recognizing market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business and renewals according to underwriting guidelines, specified budget, and local business plan for Fire risks.
- Collaborate with the Head of Commercial Iberia & Property Underwriting Manager to define and build the underwriting strategy and forecast for Fire.
- Ensure quality control within the defined area of responsibility by undertaking quantitative underwriting review to develop the best performing segments in Fire.
- Target and define a visit plan to brokers. Represent Chubb, reinforce Chubb's brand in the broker community, and support Chubb's footprint growth in the Fire market.
- Portfolio and pipeline management for Fire accounts.
- Maximize cross-selling in collaboration with other lines of business.
- Stay in sync with all policies, controls, authorities, and reporting requirements.
- Work within the framework of Chubb service standards, meeting company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business, and compliance issues.
Qualifications
- Spanish native or bilingual. Proficiency in English.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in Fire underwriting with recognized knowledge of industry procedures and practices.
- Experience working in a multinational company and knowledge of the Spanish Insurance Market.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Economy, Engineering, or similar.
- Commercially driven, client-focused, and experienced in dealing with brokers and clients.
- Results-driven with the ability to make own decisions within the scope of technical underwriting guides.
- Understanding of how individual underwriting decisions impact business results.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
