Lead Java Engineer – Latin America

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Java Engineer to drive the development of scalable, high-performance applications in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining backend systems that support large-scale, data‑driven solutions. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across international teams to deliver robust, production‑ready software. You will work on cutting‑edge projects that integrate cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and modern architecture principles, while contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Accountabilities
  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of backend services using Java, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Oversee full software development lifecycle activities, from requirements gathering and architecture design to coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including data scientists, DevOps, and QA to integrate services and maintain high system performance.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure‑as‑code to streamline development and delivery processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve system efficiency, security, and scalability.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of professional experience in Java development, including leadership or team lead experience.
  • Strong knowledge of backend frameworks, design patterns, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Terraform, Git).
  • Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with modern data storage solutions.
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams, fostering collaboration and technical growth.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Bonus: Exposure to machine learning operations (MLOps), feature stores, or large‑scale data pipelines.
