The IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the IT infrastructure environment at the site level, ensuring system availability, reliability, and alignment with ZEISS global standards. This role collaborates closely with corporate IT teams to implement infrastructure projects, strengthen operational resilience, and support business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support local IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, virtualization, and cloud services.
- Ensure system availability, performance, and scalability through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Implement and maintain global IT standards, frameworks, and infrastructure guidelines.
- Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies by maintaining and testing recovery plans.
- Collaborate with global and regional IT teams to deploy infrastructure projects and upgrades.
- Provide technical support for infrastructure-related incidents, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain updated documentation of systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Ensure infrastructure security compliance in collaboration with global cybersecurity teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to optimize infrastructure operations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, CompTIA Network+/Server+, or similar.
Technical Knowledge
- Solid knowledge of IT infrastructure: servers, storage, networks, virtualization, and cloud environments.
- Strong expertise in Windows/Linux administration and Active Directory management.
- Experience with networking technologies (LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, wireless).
- Familiarity with monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, SCCM).
- Backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions (BCP/DRP).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365).
- Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices and compliance standards.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure administration or engineering roles.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or global corporate environments is highly desirable.
- Participation in infrastructure projects, system migrations, and technology upgrades.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex infrastructure incidents.
