An automotive manufacturer is seeking a Design & Release Engineer in Naucalpan de Juárez to design and validate automotive components. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, proficiency in English, and over 5 years of experience in automotive systems development. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with quality and cost targets, participating in engineering reviews, and collaborating with suppliers.

Overview

The D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts (Front/Rear bumper and fascias, grilles, Bolster, GOR, AGS and Black trim components) under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. Look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. Design parts in order to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible of parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant.

Qualifications
  • Education: B.S. in or similar to Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • English proficiency; fluid speaker with ability to negotiate and lead small teams
  • Ability to deliver on time by planning tasks, leading co-workers pro-actively finding solutions.
  • 3D CAD knowledge TCE / CATIA ability to create simple concepts, sections, part manipulation.
  • Microsoft Office management (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Basic knowledge of materials engineering.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets (Waterfall process)
  • Understand GPDS (Global Product Development System) and create plans to deliver on time.
  • Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Failure Mode Avoidance Tools)
  • Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D (Green Belt).
  • Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work) , EC (Engineering concepts) and participate in the Sourcing Process (SOBA, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA)
  • Actively participate in the Technical Design Reviews
  • Release parts in AVBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting.
  • Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.
  • Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly
  • Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per SDS & ES. (DVP / eFDVS)
  • Leverage AIMS root cause analysis and permanent actions implementation.
  • Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.
  • Parts implementation/Sign-off at assembly plant & assistance with quality issues in all milestones.
  • PDL's revisions and proceed accordingly if affected
  • Support VQR's, VRT's and PVT, as required.
  • Collaborate with STA with technical assistance through the Supplier Engagement Process
  • Deliver by applying the One Ford Behaviors.
  • Travel to North America & Ford of Mexico plants when required
