The Role

Our client operates where education and technology meet, dedicated to crafting personalized and innovative learning experiences that drive transformative score improvements for students. Their team, composed of passionate educators and technologists, is committed to enhancing lives through education.

We are looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to evaluate, test, and implement accessibility improvements to our learning management system. This role will embed within our engineering team and work alongside QA testers, engineers, and product managers to identify and resolve accessibility defects.

Responsibilities
  • Remediate identified accessibility issues in our React-based web applications.
  • Collaborate with QA analysts and product managers to interpret test findings and verify successful fixes.
  • Refactor existing components and markup to meet accessibility best practices without degrading user experience.
  • Implement ARIA roles, keyboard interaction patterns, and focus management as needed.
  • Participate in accessibility-focused code reviews with other engineers and contribute to documentation of accessible coding patterns.
  • Support integration of accessibility improvements into CI/CD pipelines as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven track record of fixing accessibility issues in production codebases (React preferred).
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA, ARIA authoring best practices, and semantic HTML.
  • Comfortable interpreting accessibility audit results and translating them into actionable engineering changes.
  • Experience testing code using screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS), keyboard navigation, and accessibility tools like axe or Lighthouse.
  • Able to balance accessibility improvements with broader UX and design system alignment.
  • Familiar with modern frontend build tools, Git workflows, and code review processes.
  • Bonus: Experience contributing to accessible design systems or component libraries.
  • Bonus: IAAP CPACC or WAS certification, or prior experience in accessibility remediation collaboration.
