About the Position

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Internet Society (ISOC), the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Managing Director, Internet Society Foundation (Foundation) will be a proven and inspiring leader who utilizes their global experiences and leadership to build on the strong reputation and legacy of the organization. They are responsible for the overall operation and management of the Foundation, including the effective administration of operations, successful leadership and professional growth of staff, and correct and timely reporting to the Board and community.


This leader will work to build bridges, bringing an international lens to their work while developing relationships in a variety of settings to advance the mission of the Foundation. They will serve as a thought leader and advocate for the Foundation’s mission.


The EVP and Managing Director has strategic oversight of the following departments in support of the Internet Society: Philanthropy, Fundraising, Content and Marketing Communications and Empowerment.


Location

This role offers remote flexibility within its globally distributed team. The Internet Society’s unique remote work environment allows this world‑class organization to attract top talent from around the world.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead and evolve the strategic vision, programmatic, financial, and operational leadership of the organization, ensuring internal operations and programs meet financial and legal requirements for successful mission delivery and plan execution.

  • Steward and nurture a unique and inclusive organizational culture, that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, for all stakeholders, staff, and partners.

  • Work in collaboration with the Board to fulfill approved annual plans.

  • Responsible for developing annual plans in consultation and partnership with the CEO.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications


  • Requires a minimum of 15+ years total work experience in related tech industries and a minimum of 10+ years executive and senior management experience in a global environment.

  • A track record of effectively managing complex organizations and teams with a global mandate through times of transition, showcasing the ability to implement efficient and effective organizational structure and processes in a similar organization.

  • Experience optimizing engagement at all levels, including Boards of Directors and a broad community while building enduring relationships across a vibrant international community.

  • The ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance.

  • Naturally connects and builds strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.

  • A leader who is self‑reflective and aware of their own limitations, leading by example with impeccable integrity.

  • Unwavering commitment to the organization's mission, values, goals, and objectives.

  • Proven experience in leading large‑scale organizations with 50+ personnel.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to conduct international travel up to 30‑40%.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in technology or similar field of study.

  • Experience in international non‑profit management.

  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and processes and the ability to develop working relationships with potential funding sources.

  • Proficiency in multiple languages to include English.
