Estimator at Handoff

We’re hiring an Estimator to turn AI-generated takeoffs into production-ready construction estimates and material quotes for large enterprise partners. You’ll act as the “human-in-the-loop” layer—reviewing blueprints, adjusting takeoff quantities, and ensuring every deliverable meets enterprise-level quality and SLA expectations.

This role is ideal for someone with deep experience interpreting construction drawings and performing takeoffs who’s ready to work in a high-throughput, tech-forward environment. If you thrive at the intersection of drafting precision, AI model feedback, and large-scale operational systems, this role is for you.

What you’ll do

• Review and correct AI-generated takeoffs across all plan types—floor plans, elevations, ceiling plans, sections, and more.
• Validate and adjust quantities (counts, areas, linear) for accuracy and constructibility.
• Add elements the model may misinterpret—fixtures, finishes, windows, etc.
• Map takeoff quantities to supplier catalogs, applying accurate substitutions when needed.
• Prepare completed takeoffs for submission into enterprise partner systems.
• Track and manage your work through a queue with clear throughput and SLA targets.
• Provide structured feedback on model errors and recurring plan challenges to engineering & product.
• Help define and refine SOPs, QA steps, and reviewer workflows for the takeoff process.
• Test new tools and workflows to suggest improvements based on production needs.

About you

• 2+ years of experience doing takeoffs or estimating in residential or commercial construction settings.
• Able to read, interpret, and quantify from full construction drawing sets including: architectural, structural, civil, landscape, MEP, millwork, RCP, and finish schedules.
• Proficient with at least one of the following: Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, STACK, OST, Trimble, or equivalent.
• Experience working with SLA-based queues or in production/delivery environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with supplier catalogs and mapping generic takeoffs to specific SKUs or assemblies.
• Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred.
• Comfortable with structured feedback workflows and tagging errors for machine learning.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple jobs simultaneously.
• Upper Intermediate level of English (excellent written English, clear and structured)
