A leading manufacturing company in Tijuana is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to create high-quality models and drawings for flexible motion components using CAD. The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in design standards, and knowledge of welding and metal forming processes. Strong collaboration with manufacturing is key, as well as the ability to maintain ECN processes. This role offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Formación

  • 5–10+ years in mechanical design for fabrication or pressure-containing components.
  • Familiarity with EJMA and typical piping codes helpful.
  • Experience in machine shop process and understanding of metal forming/welding impacts on design.

Role Summary

Creates high-quality models and drawings for flexible motion components and assemblies (expansion joints, bellows elements, ball/strut joints) using CAD.

Applies GD&T, conducts DFM and tolerance stackups, collaborates with manufacturing and weld engineering, and manages ECN/ECRs and revision control to ensure clear, manufacturable releases.

Prepared documentation packages that consist of assembly drawings and detailed parts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise 3D models and 2D drawings with accurate BOM structures and clear GD&T/weld symbols.
  • Run DFM checks and tolerance analyses; partner with Manufacturing and Weld Engineering to preempt build issues.
  • Maintain ECN processes and revision control; respond quickly to customer and production changes.
  • Support proposal engineering with technical inputs during RFQ/estimate phases.
  • Contribute to standards library (title blocks, notes, material callouts, design guides).
Qualifications
  • Degree in mechanical, engineering or similar.
  • 5–10+ years in mechanical design for fabrication or pressure‑containing components.
  • Proficiency in CAD and drawing standards (ASME Y14.5); familiarity with EJMA and typical piping codes helpful.
  • Experience with stainless steels and nickel alloys used in sheet metal/bellows/expansion joints, understanding metal forming/welding impacts on design.
  • Experience in machine shop process, deep understanding of welding practices and sheet metal forming processes.
  • Experience with parametric 3D design and drafting for sheet metal parts.
  • Experience with Expansion Joints/ Flexible Metal Hoses/ Slip Expansion Joints a plus.
  • Experience with pressure vessels and piping design using ASME codes is a plus, (ASME B31.3, B31.1)
  • Ability to perform Static FEASimulation analyses using software is a plus.
