A global energy solutions provider is looking for a Controls Engineer in Tijuana. This role involves designing control system upgrades for existing equipment and modifying systems based on customer specifications. Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have working knowledge of PLC software. The position allows for professional growth and collaboration within a dynamic team environment, with responsibilities that include delivering technical documentation and HMI software.

Solar Turbines Overview

  • Lifecycle Services: aftermarket upgrades, controls retrofits, refurbishment, field service, technical training, digital monitoring.

The Customer Services Package Refurbishment and Upgrades (PRU) Engineering

Provides engineered solutions in support customer-specific aftermarket business opportunities.

The Controls Engineer Responsibilities
  • Design of turbine and driven equipment control system upgrades to existing fielded equipment for specific customer sales orders as part of a multi-disciplined project execution team.
  • Projects range from replacing the entire control system to modifying existing control systems to add or delete functionality based on customer requirements.
  • Initial focus on the manufacturing role to become acquainted with the PRU sales order project process and controls tools and then transition to include controls design responsibilities.
  • Deliverables: Bill of Material, Panel and Box Layout manufacturing drawings, Electrical schematic, Interconnect wiring schedule, Controller and display (HMI) software.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Electric, Mechatronic, Electromechanics, Electronic.
  • Minimum 3.0 grade point average (on 4.0 scale).
  • 0‑1 years of relevant experience.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
  • Working knowledge of PLC (programmable logic controller) software.
  • Working knowledge of the basic theory of industrial control system applications, design, and operation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree related internship.
  • Desired technical skills include programming of Rockwell Automation PLC 5 and ControlLogix 5000 processors.
  • Ability to write and communicate ideas clearly.
  • Ability to work well with others, team spirit, and flexibility with personal schedule to meet deadlines.
  • A sense of urgency and organizational skills are also required to work with multiple projects and competing priorities.
