Proprietary Equipment Mechanical & Package Senior Engineer

NEXTCHEM, a company of the MAIRE Group dedicated to Sustainable Technology Solutions, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Proprietary Equipment Mechanical & Package Senior Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of cutting‑edge technologies aimed at advancing the energy transition agenda. As part of the NX Engineering District of Catania, the engineer will work on innovative and novel technologies to enable the energy transition. The recruitment is managed by Key2People.

Main Activities & Responsibilities

• Lead and ensure together with PEQ PM/HoD the quality of deliverables and compliance with contractual requirements and company standards.
• Prepare and discuss project execution strategy with the Project Manager and Engineering Head of Department.
• Coordinate activities across engineering centers to maintain consistency, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Interact with client representatives and vendors on technical topics impacting project time and cost.
• Issue technical documents, calculations, and drawings.
• Generate material requisitions and vendor offer tabulations.
• Follow up vendors during bidding and execution phases.
• Check sub‑vendor documents in agreement with the Project Team.
• Assist inspection and construction departments as needed.
• Participate in bidding stage technical proposals.
• Develop new solutions for proprietary equipment.
• Deliver technical training and share experience with colleagues.
• Maintain updated knowledge of discipline‑specific improvements.

Competences

• Experience with static equipment for petrochemical or oleochemical applications (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air coolers, filters, plate heat exchangers, reactors).
• Review client specifications & standards and prepare customized equipment supply and design specifications.
• Prepare mechanical data sheets using 2D CAD and preliminary pressure equipment calculation design software.
• Review mechanical/structural drawings.
• Knowledge of material standards (ASTM) and process industry codes (API, ASME, ANSI, PED Directive, TEMA, EN).
• Produce accurate project deliverables and maintain project schedules and man‑hour budgets.
• General competencies in rotating equipment, heat exchange, and refractory calculation.
• Interface with other disciplines and departments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• +5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Fluent English speaker and writer.
• Willing to travel for work.
• Adaptable in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment.
