A leading humanitarian organization is seeking a Communications Adviser & Nutrition Writer to manage communications regarding nutrition initiatives. Responsibilities include project management of communications and nurturing internal relationships to convey important nutrition messages. The current prevalence of malnutrition in children is alarming. Over 50 million children suffer from acute malnutrition and over 150 million suffer from stunting. Maternal and child undernutrition is the underlying cause of approximately 45% of all mortality in children under 5. Under‑nutrition levels remain high, while overweight persons are growing exponentially even in poor countries.
As the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, WFP is adapting to meet current and emerging global nutrition challenges. This includes enhancing organisational capacity to reach vulnerable populations affected by acute malnutrition and expanding our portfolio to find lasting solutions for populations affected by poor diets and chronic malnutrition.
The purpose of the assignment is to support WFP nutrition to undertake writing projects, edit and update materials to the highest standards and/or support the ongoing work of the Engagement Team as required.
