CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

This majestic resort immerses guests in a 900-year-old historic building, rich in charm and Renaissance tradition. It features a collection of beautifully restored monastic structures, a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 6 hectares of ancient gardens offering breathtaking views of the city, along with 196 meticulously furnished rooms and suites – including the largest and most exclusive suite in Venice.

Role Description

As Chief Accountant, you will play a vital leadership role within the Finance Department, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all financial operations. You will oversee daily accounting functions, maintain strong internal controls, support strategic financial decision‑making, and ensure compliance with all company policies and local regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Developing and managing the annual budget and financial forecasts
  • Monitoring revenues, expenses, and analyzing variances
  • Overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations (AP, AR, income audit)
  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly and year‑end closing
  • Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports
  • Ensuring compliance with the hotel’s chart of accounts and company financial standards
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard assets
  • Ensuring compliance with local laws, regulations, and tax requirements
  • Assisting in tax return preparation and governmental filings
  • Coordinating internal and external audits
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy
  • Supervising, training, and mentoring the accounting team
  • Supporting senior management and the Director of Finance with analysis and strategic decision‑making
  • Providing financial insights to identify trends and opportunities
  • Liaising with other departments to resolve financial or control‑related issues
  • Participating in management meetings
  • Handling payroll processing and related accruals
  • Supporting daily cash management functions
  • Monitoring third‑party billing, payments, and POS transactions
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience in hotel or luxury‑hospitality finance (senior or supervisory level)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in accounting and hotel systems (Opera, Sun, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Fluent in English and Italian (additional languages are a plus)
