The Engineering Project Manager has overall responsibility for managing and leading project activities related to design, technical support during procurement, and execution to achieve excellence at the project execution level. S/he works with the entire project team consisting of Project & Operations Team, Consultants, Contractors, Vendors, and others. S/he controls the project budgets.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Oversee all design related activities in all phases of the entire project (Design, Construction / Installation, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Stabilization)
- Control project budget and spends. Ensure project is delivered within approved budget, on time, and with the right quality
- Review all engineering drawings and datasheets submitted by engineering consultants, plant vendors, suppliers and contractors
- Ensure standardization of engineering practice
- Validate and ensure code compliance on the installations
- Review designs of pipelines and their interface with the process and services
- Review and analyze any other project technical documentation
- Solve technical problems arising during project construction, testing & commissioning phase
- Participate in all evaluation exercises involving tender and quotations
- Support in preparation and design of all construction bid documents
- Carry out tasks related to cost estimates
- Provide support to all purchase activities and evaluation of all vendor submittals
- Inspect all mechanical equipment and analyze equipment to ensure adherence to standards and design
- Lead and manage a group of engineers
- Coordinate with various teams to administer all assignments
- Interpret all codes and maintain overall performance of all mechanical activities
- Support the site safety management team in the implementation of the project SHE management plan
Qualification & Competency Required
- Mechanical Engineering Degree from a recognized university is essential
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in engineering design, construction and overall project execution for greenfield and/or brownfield projects
- Broad familiarity with different construction techniques, their risks and practical mitigations
- Experience in project & engineering management of large-scale projects and factories, with multiple contractor groups and a diverse and local workforce
- Management of budgets and cost engineering
