Overview

Are you looking for a senior clinical post which will allow you to develop leadership and clinical skills? Are you passionate about working across Acute Medicine in a fast paced environment?

As a trusted organisation at the heart of our communities, we recognise the important role we can play in supporting the public, patients, our own people and local partners in achieving the best of health for the local population and the communities in which they live by providing Exceptional Care Together.

Responsibilities
  • Joining an established, vibrant and friendly team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and assistant staff who share an office base and work closely together to provide a consistent and responsive Therapy service to all the Acute Medicine wards.
  • Enhancing clinical skills and knowledge working with a variety of patients including Renal, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Cardiology, providing advanced Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments and providing specialist advice and support to other professionals throughout the Trust.
  • Excellent problem solving skills are a must, to ensure strength based, holistic and patient centred quality care.
  • Managing complex discharges in a fast‑paced acute hospital environment and communicating effectively as part of multi‑disciplinary and Therapy team.
  • Working closely with the other senior OT’s and Physiotherapists to ensure optimum service delivery and delay avoidance.
  • Playing an active role in the development of the service and the individuals within the service.
  • Carrying a caseload independently and providing supervision and support to assist more junior OT staff as necessary, while delegating work to OT and assistant staff within the team to ensure priorities across the service are covered.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a senior OT is not essential if you have gained relevant skills and experience as a Band 5 and have a passion for Acute Medicine.
  • Experience in managing complex discharges in a fast‑paced acute hospital environment is essential.
  • Adaptable, calm, able to effectively delegate work and maintain priorities across the service.
