Role: Personal Assistant / Support Worker (P/T)
Hours: 6.25 hrs per week
Days / Hours: Earliest start 9:30/10:00 am – Latest finish 5:00 pm (preferred Monday / Thursday, flexible)
Pay: £13.73 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal support and companionship to a 47‑year‑old male with Down Syndrome and Type 1 Diabetes, living with his family in the Largs area.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Offer social support and companionship within the local community, ensuring continuity and consistency.
  • Assist and accompany him during community activities, including leisurely walks, meals, local music events, and trips to Glasgow record/guitar shops.
  • Support daily insulin injections: oversee administration when needed and attend training provided by the employer.
  • Handle longer shifts or evenings for events when required.
  • Promote a calm, supportive, proactive and encouraging environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience working with adults with Down Syndrome (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s licence, own car and business insurance (preferable).
  • Willingness to travel for work; mileage costs covered within travel allowance.
  • Calm, supportive and easy‑going personality; ability to be proactive and encourage positively.
  • Cheery and friendly demeanor that enables engaging conversation about his interests and hobbies.

Successful applicants must undergo a new PVG disclosure (employer’s expense) and provide two reference contacts prior to appointment, along with relevant training. A 6‑month probationary period applies with one week’s notice within that period if the post does not work out.
