Job Description
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with Irwin Mitchell clients who have sustained serious injuries or illnesses, providing education, support, signposting, and advocacy. Support clients with occupational diseases such as Mesothelioma, Silicosis, Pneumonitis, and Occupational Asthma. Manage expectations and support clients and their families through treatment and rehabilitation, assisting solicitors in client management.
- Ensure smooth transition of new clients from NHS services, liaising with medical, therapeutic, and care staff regarding discharge, and providing advice and practical support regarding local services. Support clients with occupational diseases requiring palliative or long-term care.
- Resolve client issues by building relationships and collaborating with relevant bodies, assessing individual needs, and acting on referrals from case handlers or lawyers. Document and communicate actions effectively.
- Act as a liaison between lawyers, public bodies, agencies, charities, NHS, and DWP to facilitate communication and secure additional services. Provide ongoing support, signposting, and practical assistance to clients and families. Maximize clients' statutory welfare entitlements with support from the Benefits Team.
- Promote SRC services to NHS Trusts, charities, and external agencies through presentations and training, encouraging referrals.
- Follow up with clients for feedback to improve services.
You will join the Specialist Client Services team, working with experienced solicitors recognized for supporting those affected by serious injury and illness.
About You
- Experience within the UK healthcare or social care system
- Passion for high-quality, client-centered practice
- Clinician with current registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC)
- Knowledge of healthcare, rehabilitation, welfare policy, and advocacy
- Understanding of rehabilitation codes, Mental Capacity Act, and welfare benefits
- Awareness of external stakeholders (Headway, SIA, Aspire, Macmillan, Meso UK)
- Experience in clinical, health/social care, or rehabilitation settings
- Understanding of complex conditions (brain, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic injuries, birth injuries, industrial diseases, bereavement)
- Experience across various settings (acute, post-acute, palliative care, hospice, community)
- Experience working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) framework
- Ability to work autonomously and independently
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for client and stakeholder meetings
