Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Charge Nurse within the Neonatal Unit.

We are looking for an inspirational leader who is caring, compassionate and motivated to join our strong, empowered and highly skilled nursing family.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Qualified Neonatal Nurse/Deputy Charge Nurse (holds an up to date Qualification in Specialty for Neonatal Nursing) to help strengthen the Neonatal nursing team on the unit.

The candidate should possess passion for improving the health and wellbeing of our babies and families; enthusiasm to embrace change; resilience when working with complex families and be required to work to ensure effective service delivery.

The unit requires a DCN to support the SCN to ensure the safe running of our Neonatal Unit comprising of 7 special care beds and 2 HDU beds.

You will assist with In phase investigations and any action plans that are required following these investigations, complete weekly and monthly audits and upload them onto the system in a timeous manner to meet the deadlines.

The DCN in the absence of the SCN is also responsible for the training needs and supportive care of staff within the ward area and also the completion of staff’s yearly PDR reviews.

The successful candidate will be required to work as required for the needs of the Neonatal service and within the Family and Support Services Directorate.
