Job description
Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Directorate as a Research & Innovation Officer on a 1-year fixed term or secondment basis. The post holder will support the development, delivery, coordination and conduct of current research and innovation within the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for collaborating on, identifying and developing opportunities for research and innovation across Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust and our stakeholder partners. They will help align and strengthen the approach to research and innovation across the health and care system and facilitate the scale and spread of ideas to achieve system-wide transformation. They will establish and foster collaborations and partnerships with the research and innovation infrastructure, and networks across Wales, the UK and internationally. This will involve continuing to maintain and build partnerships with academia, research, ambulance service and industry partners and organisations.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will need to be a registered Paramedic with an interest in research & Innovation and will be required to liaise with the Assistant Director of Research and innovation, Head of Research & Innovation, Trial Chief Investigators (CI), study co-ordination teams, clinicians, leaders and staff within the Trust. They will also be required to liaise with other healthcare professionals external to the Trust to gain the required data for studies.

oSupport and monitor a system of training for participating staff covering their roles in research and Innovation.o Work closely with clinicians leaders, managers and teams to undertake key elements of research and innovation linked to the operational processes involved.o Ensure, monitor, and audit the flow and destruction of any Trials drugs or packs during studies.o Work closely with operational and clinical colleagues to provide support to study participants in the operational aspects of studies.o Collect and collate appropriate data required for studies with due consideration to data protection and information governance requirements.o Be instrumental in the identification and consenting of patients enrolled into studies.o Monitor the progress of studies to ensure that any adverse incidents are reported immediately to the Trust's Head of Research & Innovation, Chief and Principal Investigators and to partner organisations such as Trials Units and research and Innovation groups as appropriate
