Job summary
A leading defence company in the UK is seeking a Systems Engineer for Defence Programmes. The role involves capturing and analysing system requirements, supporting system design and V&V, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates should have experience with MBSE tools, safety-critical systems, and systems integration testing. The company offers career progression opportunities in a collaborative environment. Security clearance is required for this position.

Join a leading defence team and work across the full systems lifecycle from requirements gathering and design to integration, validation, and verification (V&V). We have roles available at all levels, from hands‑on Engineers to Technical Leads and Management positions.
- Capture and analyse system requirements and develop architectures
- Lead or support system design, integration, and V&V activities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, and project management
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, or MagicDraw
- Knowledge of safety-critical or mission-critical systems standards (e.g., IEC 61508, DO-178C, DO-254)
- Familiarity with systems integration testing in multi-domain platforms (air, land, maritime)
- Understanding of autonomous systems or robotics in defence applications
- Experience with digital engineering or simulation environments
- Knowledge of secure communications and cybersecurity principles in systems engineering
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Polarion
- Previous exposure to MOD or government acquisition processes
- Work on high-impact defence programmes
- Career progression from Engineer to Lead / Management roles
