As School Business Manager, you will be a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, working alongside the Headteacher to ensure the effective and efficient running of the school. The role covers a wide range of responsibilities including:
- Financial Management - overseeing budgets, procurement, payroll, and ensuring best value across all services.
- Human Resources - leading on recruitment, compliance with safer recruitment, maintaining the Single Central Record, and managing HR systems.
- Administration & Compliance - ensuring statutory returns are completed, managing data systems, and overseeing GDPR.
- Premises & Facilities - managing health and safety, site security, and liaising with contractors on maintenance and capital projects.
- Public Relations & Income Generation - developing strong community links, supporting fundraising, and seeking opportunities for income generation.
To succeed as School Business Manager, you will need:
- Experience of financial planning and budget management.
- Strong HR knowledge and line management skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- A proactive, flexible, and resilient approach with a strong commitment to supporting education.
A School Business Management qualification or degree-level education is desirable, but not essential.
