Job summary
A local school in Barnsley is seeking a compassionate Lunchtime Assistant to support children during lunchtimes both inside and outside. The role involves encouraging positive play, ensuring safety, and following behavior policies. Ideal for those wanting to start in a school setting, you should be patient and caring, with an understanding of safeguarding. First aid training will be provided if not already qualified. This is a term-time only position working during school hours.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children is beneficial.
- First aid qualification is preferred but training will be provided.
- Ability to follow the school's behavior policy.
Responsibilities
- Assist children at lunchtimes inside the dinner hall and outside on the playground.
- Encourage positive play and support children's safety.
- Report any injuries or illnesses.
Skills
You will work within a supportive team, assisting children at lunchtimes both inside the dinner hall and outside on the playground. You will support with encouraging positive play and follow the school's behaviour policy. You will help to keep children safe and make sure that any injuries or illness is reported. You may have an existing first aid qualification but, if not, we will provide you with appropriate training.
We are looking for someone who is patient and caring, and someone who can work under their own initiative with the ability to relate well to children and adults. You should enjoy working with children and have a good understanding of safeguarding, including the statutory guidance.
This is an ideal role for someone who is looking for a starting role within a school setting, working term-time only, within school hours.
